Gifts of Stock

Donating appreciated securities such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds allows you to give more—without using cash. By transferring stock directly to RMHFW, you can avoid capital gains tax, receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value, and amplify your philanthropic impact. This method is especially beneficial if your investments have grown significantly over time.

Donor-Advised Fund

A Donor-Advised Fund is a flexible, tax-savvy way to support Ronald McDonald House over time. Here’s how it works:

  • Donate: Open a DAF through a sponsoring organization such as Fidelity Charitable, Charles Schwab, or Communities Foundation of Texas, and contribute cash or non-cash assets. You’ll receive an immediate tax deduction for the current year.
  • Grow: In many cases, you can advise how your contributions are invested—giving your donor-advised fund the potential to grow tax-free over time.
  • Give: Recommend grants to support families at Ronald McDonald House. Unlike private foundations, there is no minimum annual payout. You can give at your own pace and to your charities of choice.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows eligible individuals age 70½ or older to make a charitable gift directly from their IRA to Ronald McDonald House Greater Fort Worth. It’s a tax-efficient way to support families while potentially reducing your taxable income.

Here’s how it works:

  • Give: Request a direct transfer from your IRA custodian to Ronald McDonald House Greater Fort Worth.
  • Save: Eligible QCDs are generally excluded from taxable income, rather than claimed as a charitable deduction.
  • Make an Impact: Your gift helps provide essential services, meals and a place to stay for families with children receiving medical care.

If you’re required to take minimum distributions from your IRA, a qualifying QCD may also count toward that requirement.
